A Message from Liz Gilbert, Co-chair, RVP Auction Committee:
Everyone involved with the Rabour Village Project is celebrating the outstanding success of our first auction held on October 7, 2006. The Swedish Cultural Center was a perfect venue for our silent and live auctions, as well as the delicious meals prepared by the "As You Like It" catering service. Auction co-chairs Susan Cook and Liz Gilbert want to thank all the helpers including: auction committee members Jane Mortell, Dayna Nordine, and Lee Jones; the volunteers from the University of Washington Honors College who assisted with registering, tallying, and facilitating problem solving the night of the auction; and the many others who gave freely of their time and talents. Tremendous credit is due to our auctioneer Larry Taylor, who enticed the 150+ guests to exceed our auction goals, including the amount needed to expand the nursery school. While final figures aren't yet available, it is clear that we exceeded our goal of $25,000 by at least $10,000 after expenses. During our "fund a project" session we raised enough money to build a third classroom for the nursery. All proceeds from the auction will go to directly to the villages that RVP supports. A heartfelt thank you to all!
